"Hippokampus", Greek for seahorse. A combination of the words "hippos", which translates to “horse,” and "kampos", which means “sea monster" in English.

Hippokampus is a representational soap carving art relief of a seahorse that aims to depict the beauty of this magical and beautiful one-of-a-kind sea creature. This artwork was carefully carved out by the artist in order to portray a real seahorse as accurately as possible to show the audience the true beauty of this creature, as not everyone has seen a real seahorse in real life. This carving is considered as a semi-medium relief, done so in order to let the seahorse stand out more from its smoothed-out background without it actually looking unattached from it.

This artwork was heavily inspired by a photo of a seahorse in an aquarium of a zoological park taken by the artist. That photo was also where the artist took reference for the artwork's details and shapes. The artist also wanted to ensure that the background was as smooth and silky as possible and to make the seahorse look as seamlessly attached to it by using water to soften the carving marks, using their fingers to smoothen it.
This artwork aims to share the message of protecting these one-of-a-kind, unique creatures. Seahorses are the only kinds of species known to mankind that actually look like them. These creatures deserve to live a happy and peaceful life without mankind destroying their habitats. We should show our appreciation to them and only going so far by admiring their astonishing beauty and ensuring their safety, which is the goal of this artwork.

The artist wants to inspire people all around the world who may see this artwork to have them realize that protecting seahorses or any wildlife is our duty and it is up to humanity to ensure their existence as long as possible through this artwork. Lastly, the artist also wants to emphasize on how much impact and meaning anything can make or have on a person, just like this artwork. It all matters to how deep these things touch one's heart.
